Can You Really Sell?

If you are a sales professional, business owner, or entrepreneur with a product for sale, this blog post is for you.

Every time I sit with an entrepreneur and have a very frank discussion about how to sell their product or service, they are never really clear on the best way to accomplish this.

When you are sitting with a prospective client, your presentation skills must be second to none. In other words, you must know your product. I’m being extreme when I say this, but you need to be able to describe your product in your sleep.

You should also know who you are talking to. I’m not talking about their names or the names of their children. I’m referring to knowing who your target audience is and what keeps them up at night.

What’s their biggest fear? What’s causing them to lose sleep? Do you know if your target audience is 30-40 years old? Is your target audience predominately male or female? Does your target audience spend money to have their problems solved?

If you answered no to any of these questions, you will find it extremely difficult or impossible to make money offering your products or services.

I personally have spent years perfecting knowing what my target audience looks like and more importantly, what keeps them up at night.

One of the ways I did this was through the use of surveys. If you have been a student of mine and have ever attended any of my webinars, you know that I always ask you “What is the single most important question you have about _______?”

It’s a simple way to find out what’s happening in their brain.
